The number one reason wrote Built on Purpose: Lessons in Leadership and Culture was to help others in their leadership journey. We can collectively improve so much as leaders, but it’s not going to happen by accident.

If I could help one person become a more effective leader, then my effort was not in vain.

However, if I can help hundreds of people, and their efforts yield results and they, in turn, each impact hundreds of people, well now we’ve got something special.

That’s why getting maximum reach for this book is so important. So I’ve started appearing on podcasts to help spread the word, and this week I had the pleasure of appearing on Positive Talk Radio. Host Kevin McDonald and his fantastic team has a daily show that streams in all 50 states and in 90 countries, including Brushwood Media Network, a digital syndicated network streaming on 16 stations across America and on all podcast platforms.

In our time together, we discussed what’s holding us back from being terrific leaders, what to look for when diagnosing under-performing organizations from a leadership perspective, the importance of communication and much more.
